We’re beyond excited to share our latest innovation: L. reuteri yogurt! Crafted using Dr. Davis’s renowned recipe—with a twist—we’ve replaced half-and-half with our fresh whole milk.
WHY L. REUTERI?
This extraordinary probiotic strain offers a host of benefits, the most fascinating being its ability to stimulate the release of oxytocin, often called the “love hormone.” Oxytocin promotes feelings of love, compassion, and connection, making this yogurt truly unique.
Beyond that, L. reuteri fights SIBO, IBS, and Candida, supports skin health, uplifts mood, and nourishes your gut microbiome. It’s yogurt that doesn’t just taste great—it works wonders for your body and mind.
OUR EXPERIMENTS
We’ve created two versions of L. reuteri yogurt: one using imported UHT milk and the other using our fresh whole milk (the same premium milk we use for our kefir and Greek yogurt).
• The UHT milk version has a velvety smooth texture.
• The fresh milk version is slightly coarser but incredibly rich and creamy due to its higher fat and protein content.
To elevate both versions further, we strained the whey, transforming them into L. reuteri Greek yogurt. This process reduced the final product’s weight to half of the original ingredients’ total weight, resulting in a thick, luxurious yogurt with subtle notes of the probiotic tablets’ flavor.
OUR FAVORITE
The strained yogurt made with fresh milk—it’s delightfully thick, creamy, and free of bitterness or lingering aftertaste.
FURTHER THOUGHTS
We think the reason Dr Davis recommends half and half is that half and half contains a much higher content of fat than whole milk, which would result in a much thicker end product so people don’t need to go through the additional time-consuming step of straining.
From what we’ve read, most people just consume the yogurt as it is (not strained) so a mixture of heavy/whipping cream and whole milk will definitely result in a thicker texture than milk alone.
We also felt a subtle difference in taste between the two versions: the UHT had a bit of “cooked” taste (probably due to being heated to a much higher temp.), the fresh one had a richer and creamier mouthfeel.
